Before “Jesus Christ,” there was Yohanan in the wilderness—calling people to repent, purify, and prepare for imminent judgment. His authority came outside institutions, forming a powerful movement that overlapped with Yeshua’s. What survives in the Gospels is not succession, but integration—his prophetic voice embedded within the figure later called Christ.
